Students, Staff instructors, DMT’s, Course Director and 14 days of presentations, confined water circuits and open water skills made up the IDC April 2013. As an IDC Staff in training I really enjoyed brushing up on my knowledge, sharing my teaching experiences with the newbies and taking silly photo’s of classroom demonstrations. I also enjoyed taking full advantage of the air conditioning and coffee machine.
The PADI instructor Development Course is made up of two main parts the Assistant Instructor Course (AI) and the Open Water Scuba Instructor Course (OWSI). With your Course Director’s agreement and in completing the AI and OWSI courses to the required standard gains you entry into the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). Over 10 – 17 days our IDC’s train Dive Masters to become teachers of the PADI system.
Our students are; Nicole, Tyler, Shana and Chaya. Nicole, from Florida, and Chaya, from Canada, have been working at a dive centre on Playa Hermosa and came to Rich Coast to take advantage of our Career Development Centre Status. They now feel its time to take the next step into the world of instructing. Shana is a fashion designer from New York and actually did her Open Water Course with us a few years a go. After doing her Dive Master in the Philippines coincidentally with an Instructor that was also trained at Rich Coast Diving; she decided to take the leap into a different profession here in Playa del Coco. Tyler is from Maryland and decided to do his IDC at the same time as brother Zach completes the Dive Master Course. We wish them all lots of luck for the IE on 23rd/24th!
