Now this course is pretty new in the PADI system and takes about 3 days, however this student Blaine came in and told me he was already a TEC 50 diver; hmm that changes the plan, because we can adjust the program a bit as a lot of the knowledge was already completed. Sidemount is a scuba diving equipment configuration which has dive cylinders mounted alongside the diver, below the shoulders and along the hips, instead of on the back of the diver. It began as a configuration popular with advanced cave divers, as smaller sections of cave can be penetrated and tanks can be changed with greater ease. Continue reading
The last 3 weeks of the year are always very busy with both fun divers and students. This year we seem to have many people who like to get certified, so all our instructors are in the pool and on the boat and back in the pool trying to make everyone a certified diver before 2013. Continue reading
This week we certified a new TEC 40 diver on sidemount. The Hollis gear makes it so comfortable, it makes the step towards becoming a PADI TEC diver so easy. Even for the female diver, and I can speak from experience, the sidemount set up is just awesome, you are going down with double tank, one on each side. Continue reading
After achieving the CDC status we felt we had to upgrade and start teaching TEC courses as well. So an instructor was invited to join us in Costa Rica and Kevin was more than happy to leave the US for a trip to warm waters. Continue reading
